The Top 10 Vacuums of 2026
We've tested robots, sticks, canisters, and mops. If you only read one article this year, make it this one.
Ranking vacuums is hard because a $150 Eufy serves a different purpose than a $1,500 Roborock. However, we ranked these based on value—how much cleaning power you get for your dollar.

Troubleshooting Common Vacuum Issues
Loss of Suction
If your Shark or Dyson feels weak, check these three things immediately:
- Filters: Wash your foam filters every month. Dust cakes on them and chokes the motor.
- The Hose: Drop a coin down the wand. If it doesn't come out the other end, you have a clog.
- The Bin Seal: Ensure the rubber gasket on the dust bin is clean and creating a tight seal.
Brush Roll Not Spinning
Usually caused by hair wrap (even on "anti-tangle" models) or a broken belt.
- Cut the hair: Use scissors to cut hair wrapped around the roller.
- Check the ends: Pop off the end caps of the roller—hair loves to hide there and melt the plastic bearings.
Vacuum Smells Bad
That "dog smell" is usually bacteria growing in the dust or filters.
- Wash the bin: Rinse the plastic bin with soapy water (let it dry for 24 hours!).
- Replace filters: If washing doesn't work, buy a new HEPA filter.
- Use baking soda: Vacuum up a half-cup of baking soda to neutralize odors inside the machine.
